Summer intern sought
The Newport Daily News is seeking a summer intern. Candidates must have a background in writing and reporting, journalism training, enjoy working with the public and be able to handle the environment of a busy newsroom.
Responsibilities include police reporting, writing feature and human-interest stories, event coverage and some enterprise reporting.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word is a plus and some newsroom experience would be ideal. Willingness to learn new things and handle multiple tasks is essential. Good grammar and spelling skills are important, and knowledge of Associated Press style is preferred.
