Journalism Day at URI

The Nov. 13 morning program is “Maintaining Journalistic Standards in a 24-hour News Cycle,” and will begin at 11 a.m. in Atrium One in the Memorial Union. Panelists are Joel "Ed" Medina, director of multimedia development, BostonGlobe/Boston.com; John Martin, editor of Governing.com; Fred Harwood, managing editor for online content/new media at the New Bedford Standard.Times. Moderator is Sheila Mullowney, executive editor, The Newport Daily News

The evening program, “Lipstick on a Pig: A Look back at the Election,” begins at 7 p.m. in Swan Hall auditorium. Panelists are Jill Lawrence, a national political writer at USA TODAY and a former columnist for The Associated Press; Dr. Marc A. Genest, a professor of strategy and policy at the Naval War College and a former political science professor at the University of Rhode Island; and Ian Donnis, reporter and columnist for The Providence Phoenix. Moderator is Scott Pickering, managing editor of East Bay Newspapers and president of the Rhode Island Press Association.
